Set the mood as you go
Lead with a playful exchange, turn up the flirtation or give the conversation a roleplay setting. Joi describes different conversation styles, so you can shape the mood around the scene you want to explore.
Give the fantasy a visual form
Prompt-based tools create images and videos, with settings to shape the result. Character-specific media and some advanced options use Neurons, Joi’s in-app currency. Refine a prompt when you want to try another direction.
Before you choose
Start with Basic, explore more with Premium. Basic offers limited access, while Premium is a recurring subscription. Some image generation is available to try before upgrading; the current offer explains the included access and renewal terms.
Some extras are separate. Characters, bots and media may require Neurons or another purchase. Individual character subscriptions also require active Premium.

Am I chatting with the creator?
No. Joi describes companions as AI-powered virtual friends. A creator-associated persona is an AI character, not a live chat with the person it represents.
What happens to my monthly benefits on an annual plan?
Joi says subscription benefits refresh monthly, even with yearly billing. Its Help Center also says unused benefits roll over to the next monthly refresh.
Can I create images of a particular companion?
Yes. Joi’s help guide distinguishes general image generation from images or videos featuring a specific character. Character-based media uses Neurons, letting you build a visual scene around the companion you chose.
